| An introduction to clinical hypnotherapy | A two-hour lecture exploring the benefits of
hypnotherapy. This short lecture introduces the concept of clinical hypnotherapy, distinquishing it from stage hypnotism, and discusses how it can be used to help people overcome problems in their lives. Whether it be fears and phobias, losing weight, stopping smoking, or treating physiological problems which are caused by psychological conditions - things such as blushing, stuttering, insomnia, bed-wetting, infertility, nervouseness, etc. You will be shown how hypnotherapy can reduce stress and improve performance, help with examination nerves, and counter a number of other conditions. The role of the hypnotherapist is examined as well as the relationship between the GP and the hypnotherapist. This lecture would suit anyone with little or no knowledge of hypnotherapy but who is interested in the subject. It is also a good optional foundation for anyone intending to join the related lectures and workshops below. |

of self-hypnosis. Self-hypnosis is a safe and useful tool which as the name suggests can be used by individuals themselves to induce a state of hypnosis. Once hypnotised, the individual can use therapeutic techniques to help them through all kinds of situations. This lecture explains the benefits and discusses some of its common applications. The lecture is an ideal introduction to the subject and is a good optional foundation to anyone wishing to join one of the workshops below. |

benefits of self-hypnosis. This workshop, run over two afternoons one week apart, teaches people how to use self-hypnosis. It discusses the issues of safety and the conditions under which it can and, importantly, must not be used. Delegates are shown how to induce a state of self-hypnosis, how to deepen the state so that therapeutic techniques can be used, and how to emerge safely from the hypnotic trance. Some basic and commonly used therapeutic techniques are demonstrated to provide an insight to the benefits achieved. Self-hypnosis is a powerful technique which must be used safely. The workshop is suitable for those who wish to find out more about self-hypnosis and is a necessary foundation to the advanced workshop below. Delegates should not feel that this workshop has provided all they need to know to use the technique. It is strongly recommended that those who do wish to move to that stage attend the advanced workshop below having completed this foundation. |

on the techniques of self-hypnosis. This workshop, run over two full days one week apart, continues the themes discussed in the introductory workshop. It provides further guidance on the methods used to induce and use self-hypnosis and discusses in detail the therapeutic techniques that individuals can safely use once hypnotised. Situations where the technique can be used are explored and guidance is given concerning appropriate conditions which are treatable by this technique. Equally, conditions which must not be treated and situations where it is innapropriate or unsafe to use the technique are discussed in detail. The workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended the introductory workshop and is now wanting to move on to using the technique. |
